Reducing Search Spam

spamAlmost everyone knows about email spam. Search spam is a newer phenomenon that involves creating deceptive web pages so a web site gets more search traffic. Search spam techniques include using false titles on pages, stuffing pages with irrelevant keywords, and cloaking. Cloaking is a method of displaying one version of a page to search engines, and a different version to visitors.

Are you suffering from unfair competition because of competitors that use search-spam techniques to create deceptive listings? Search spam harms legitimate businesses by dropping the position of their web sites in the search results.

Most search engines will remove "spammy" web sites from their listings when presented with reasonable evidence. You can get results by filing a level-headed spam complaint with the search engines.
